Random note, rather than just using Debug, most real apps use levels of logging e.g debug (1) , info (2), error (3). This helps to filter out the info you need e.g. devs are interested in debug, but production apps could be slowed down with too much debug info and hence only log errors. App testers are interested in info to verify if the right steps have been executed.

I just got a new MBP 15, and it’s back to this old problem… It’s running 10.6.8 and I haven’t been able to load the modem drivers. I’ve followed your beautifully written article to the letter ( a couple of times) but no dice. After the second restart, going to prefs to set up the dialing, still no modem listed in the drop down. As though the drivers are still unrecognized. In system profiler, under modems it simply states “No Information” but sees the stick as 2 usb volumes. The stick works on other machines… Any other ideas? Thanks!!

Do you know a way to force the modem to operate in 3G even if the 1G signal is stronger ?

When I had this modem running on windows the software that came with it had an option to do so, but in OSX it’s now defaulting to the stronger carrier signal which is always going to be 1G (128kbps) slow instead of 7.2Mbps (fast)

Great job with making the iwebkit extension for FireFox.

That game looked really cool – loved how it integrated the iPad, iPhone and a flash game. I think that it could give the Microsoft Kinect for Xbox a real shake for its money – and it looked like a good workout to boot!

Again, impressive presentation! IMO that was the best one of the day . I was looking right into inline function after you mentioned it yesterday, but haven’t had much luck. Some people wrote that it doesn’t even exist for ActionScript 3. Could you probably point to the right directions?

I hope you weren’t talking about C inline function in Alchemy!

lol! internet explorer has no notion of rounded borders, and don’t use 1em. em’s are evil. they aren’t standard on every browser. use pixels, they are awesome.

I like the way everyone is adopting webkit as a standard implementation of HTML renderer. adobe air , safari, web OS, chrome .. all use webkit.

I reckon mozilla should dump its gecko renderer and adopt webkit.
