How to hide Microsoft SkyDrive from the OSX Dock

Yesterday Microsoft released a pretty big update to SkyDrive that gave all users Dropbox like functionality on Windows and Mac OS X. However for some magical reason, Microsoft decided to ship the OS X client with a very irritating icon in the Dock along with the title bar. Removing the dock icon is surprisingly easy. Announcing Beta 1 of Robo Skype for Mac OSX

After teasing the upcoming release of Robo Skype last week, I am excited to announce the immediate availability of the first Beta release. Right now this only supports Mac OSX, the monkeys with typewriters are working as hard as they can to have a windows version for you to all use. However it seems that my skpe4cmd that i published a few monts ago has stopped working! Have a faith in the monkeys and we might have some success!

Controlling Skype via Terminal on a Mac

UPDATE: Windows users should check out my other project, skype4cmd.

Recently Manoj Vekaria asked me if I know how he could send SMS’s via Skype from within one of his PHP scripts. After digging around we found that while there is PHP support for windows, however it doesnt work on OS X since there is no COM interface.

There is a framework that Skype provides for cocoa, that doesn’t seem to compile ‘out of the box’ on Intel machines. Fortunately there is light at the end of the tunnel for Mac developers. Continue reading
